They sound wonderful, and there&#8217;s just something really neat about walking around the house and having music follow you from room to room. We&#8217;ve been listening to a lot more music together as a family, as a result\u00a0(the kids&#8217; recent favorites: The Beatles, and regrettably, Pitbull\u2014although my\u00a0three year old singing <em>Timberrrrr<\/em> at the top of her lungs is amusing).<\/p>\n<p>But while the hardware is great, I find the Sonos apps largely frustrating to use\u2014they&#8217;re only lightly-integrated with iTunes, and overall are just poorly designed and unintuitive to me.<\/p>\n<p>Enter <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@stephencwan\/hacking-airplay-into-sonos-93a41a1fcfbb\">AirSonos<\/a>, a Node.js project that adds Apple AirPlay support to your Sonos devices. You&#8217;ll need to install Node\u00a0and the AirSonos package, and run the whole thing from the command line\u2014none of which is particularly challenging\u00a0(I got it running in about a minute)\u2014but once that&#8217;s done you should be able to broadcast to Sonos natively from any of your devices.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/paulmaiorana.com\/notes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0443.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/paulmaiorana.com\/notes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/IMG_0443.png?w=960&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"IMG_0443.PNG\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve really enjoyed my Sonos wireless speakers since getting a couple Play:1s earlier this year.
